KABUL, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have launched the construction of seven key development projects in the southern province of Uruzgan, as part of the government's broader efforts to improve infrastructure and living standards across the country, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported Wednesday.

According to the report, the projects include the building of water canals, retaining walls and small dams, which are expected to enhance irrigation, prevent soil erosion and provide better access to clean water for local communities.

In a related development, authorities in northern Kunduz province inaugurated a new water supply canal, which will provide reliable access to water for hundreds of families in the region.

The Afghan government has emphasized infrastructure development as a national priority, pledging to launch more projects across the war-affected nation. These initiatives aim to not only stimulate local economies and create job opportunities, but also to lay the foundation for long-term stability and self-reliance.
