MADRID, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona returned to second place in La Liga on Sunday with a 3-1 home win over Elche, with goals from Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and Marcus Rashford.

Real Madrid kept its five-point lead at the top with a 4-0 home win over Valencia on Saturday, as Kylian Mbappe scored twice and Jude Bellingham and Alvaro Carreras added one each.

Yamal opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a powerful shot past Elche goalkeeper Inaki Pena, who is on loan from Barcelona.

Barcelona doubled its lead two minutes later after winning possession deep in Elche's half. Fermin Lopez fed Torres to finish.

Rafa Mir pulled one back for Elche three minutes before halftime after getting the better of Ronald Araujo and finishing with a powerful shot. He later saw a curling effort come back off the post.

Rashford made it 3-1 on the hour with a left-footed shot, with Lopez again providing the assist.

Antony scored twice as Real Betis beat Mallorca 3-0 at home. He struck from 25 meters after 10 minutes, then curled in a second in the 34th minute.

Ez Abde added Betis' third in the 37th minute against a Mallorca side that produced one shot on target.

Lucas Boye was hero and villain for Deportivo Alaves in a 2-1 home win over Espanyol, scoring after Denis Suarez's early opener before being sent off late for a second yellow card. Roberto Fernandez had pulled Espanyol back into the match with a header 10 minutes into the second half.

Miguel Roman scored a stoppage-time winner as Celta Vigo claimed a 2-1 away victory over Levante.

The home side went down to 10 men after Unai Vencedor was sent off in the 29th minute, and Celta took a 40th-minute lead through Oscar Mingueza moments after Levante missed a penalty. Kervin Arriaga equalized for Levante midway through the second half, but Roman decided it after Levante failed to clear a Borja Iglesias chip into the area.
