PHNOM PENH, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia detained a total of 21,800 drug-related suspects, including 742 foreigners, in 8,391 cases during the first 10 months of 2025, said an Anti-Drug Department report on Saturday.
Some 48 percent of the suspects were drug traffickers, manufacturers, possessors, and transporters, while 52 percent were drug users, the report said.
"A total of 5.48 tons of illicit drugs, 516 kilograms of dry marijuana, and 12,212 marijuana plants were seized from the suspects' possession during the January-October period of 2025," the report said.
The Southeast Asian nation has no death sentence for illicit drug traffickers. Under its law, those found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of illicit drugs could be imprisoned for life. ■
