DAR ES SALAAM, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania's incumbent President Samia Suluhu Hassan of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party has won the presidential election, securing 97.66 percent of the vote, the Independent National Electoral Commission announced on Saturday.
Hassan thus becomes the country's first elected female president. She first assumed office in March 2021 following the death of then-President John Magufuli from heart disease, marking a historic milestone as Tanzania's first female head of state. ■
