HANOI -- The death toll from heavy rains and flooding in Vietnam's central region has risen to 28, with six people missing and 43 others injured, local daily VnExpress reported Friday night.
More than 22,100 houses remain inundated, mainly in Hue and Da Nang cities. Floods and landslides have destroyed or swept away 91 houses and damaged 181 others, according to the report. (Vietnam-Floods)

ULAN BATOR -- Four people were killed and 97 others had received medical assistance in a suspected carbon monoxide poisoning in Mongolia in 13 days, the country's National Center for Public Health reported Friday.

MELBOURNE -- Some 11 bodies have been found after a landslide hit a small village in the Enga Province of Papua New Guinea (PNG) in the early hours of Friday morning.

ISLAMABAD -- Four people, including three women, were killed in a road accident in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province on Thursday, officials said.
The incident occurred in the Jaranwala subdivision of Faisalabad district when a speeding bus collided with a motorcycle carrying the victims, state-run Rescue 1122 said in a statement. (Pakistan-Road Accident-Death) ■
