JAKARTA, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources aims to add 42.6 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy power generation capacity over the next decade, an official from the ministry said Friday.
The target is part of the government's strategy to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels toward a low-carbon energy system, said Eniya Listiani Dewi, director general of new, renewable energy and energy conservation at the ministry.
"Our 10-year target is to add 69.2 GW in total capacity, with 42.6 GW coming from renewables and another 10.3 GW from pumped storage and batteries," she said.
She noted that the move reflects Indonesia's strong commitment to clean energy development. "Our effort to strengthen renewable energy as one of the key tools for this transition period is very focused and well-directed," she said. ■
