BANGKOK, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said here Wednesday that the country plans to hold a multilateral meeting to strengthen regional cooperation on combating cybercrime.
In his remarks before departing for the upcoming 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in South Korea, Anutin said he has reiterated Thailand's commitment to combating cybercrime during the recent Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit, and officially proposed hosting a regional multilateral meeting to address cybercrime in a more specific and robust manner.
This matter has been assigned to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs for implementation, he said.
Last week, the Thai government declared combating online scammers a "national priority," directing all ministries and agencies to take a more intensive and coordinated approach to the problem.■
