NEW YORK, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 74.37 points, or 0.16 percent, to 47,632.00. The S&P 500 sank 0.30 points, or less than 0.01 percent, to 6,890.59. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 130.98 points, or 0.55 percent, to 23,958.47.
Seven of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with real estate and consumer staples leading the laggards by losing 2.66 percent and 2.00 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, technology and communication services led the gainers by rising 1.05 percent and 1.04 percent, respectively. ■
