SEOUL, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's chipmaker SK hynix logged its record earnings in the third quarter due to strong sales of memory chips used in generative artificial intelligence (AI) chipsets, the company said Wednesday.
The company's revenue surged 39.1 percent over the year to 24.45 trillion won (17.1 billion U.S. dollars) in the July-September quarter.
Its operating profit soared 61.9 percent to 11.38 trillion won (7.9 billion dollars), and net income more than doubled to 12.60 trillion won (8.8 billion dollars) in the third quarter.
Both revenue and operating profit hit all-time highs in the company's history, topping previous highs in the second quarter of this year.
The company said the highest-ever performance was driven by the full-scale increase in prices of DRAM and NAND as well as the rising shipments of high-performance products for AI servers.
Sales expanded in high value-added products such as 12-high HBM3E and DDR5 for servers, it noted. ■
