SEOUL, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's consumer sentiment worsened for the second straight month due to worry about trade-related uncertainties, central bank data showed Tuesday.

The composite consumer sentiment index (CCSI), which gauges the sentiment of consumers over economic situation, fell 0.3 points over the month to 109.8 in October after going down 1.3 points in the previous month, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

The consecutive slide was attributed to concerns about the prolonged trade negotiations between South Korea and the United States and other trade-related uncertainties.

The sub-index for current economic situation stood unchanged at 91 in October compared with the previous month, but the index for economic outlook declined 3 points to 94.

Inflation expectations, which measure the outlook among consumers over headline inflation for the next 12 months, added 0.1 percentage point to 2.6 percent in October on a monthly basis.

After peaking at 4.7 percent in July 2022, the inflation expectations had roughly been on the decline.

The result was based on a survey of 2,274 households conducted from Oct. 14 to 21.
