NEW YORK, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar climbed in late trading on Thursday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, increased by 0.04 percent to 98.936 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.1618 dollars from 1.1609 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3323 dollars from 1.3356 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 152.53 Japanese yen, higher than 151.88 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.7952 Swiss francs from 0.7960 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3989 Canadian dollars from 1.3988 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 9.3909 Swedish kronor from 9.4046 Swedish kronor. ■
