ULAN BATOR, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia joined a global campaign to celebrate the snow leopard day, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change said on Thursday.
The campaign encouraged individuals, institutions and communities around the world to join efforts to preserve the snow leopard.
According to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)-Mongolia, the landlocked Asian country is home to the world's second-largest population of snow leopards.
It was estimated that around 1,000 adult snow leopards inhabit Mongolia.
International Day of the Snow Leopard was observed on Oct. 23. ■
