MANAMA, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and Tencent confirmed on Tuesday in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, that they will further expand their cooperation in the field of esports, joining hands to promote the standardized development of the industry and foster cultural exchanges across Asia.

The agreement was signed during the OCA's 101st Executive Board Meeting held in Manama on Tuesday morning. Both parties expressed their commitment to promoting the Olympic spirit and advancing Asian esports in areas such as event systems, industry standards, and cultural communication.

Building on Tencent Esports' experience from the Jakarta 2018 and Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, the two sides will deepen collaboration to support the development of esports as an official Asian Games discipline. As preparations for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games gain momentum, the OCA and Tencent aim to further strengthen their partnership to boost the growth and international influence of Asian esports.

Further details of the cooperation will be announced in the coming months.

In addition to the OCA-Tencent agreement, Tuesday's meeting also saw the signing of a cooperation agreement between the OCA and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, as well as updates on preparations for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and the Riyadh Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
