NEW YORK, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Tuesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.35 percent to 98.934 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.1605 dollars from 1.1646 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3373 dollars from 1.3409 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 151.91 Japanese yen, higher than 150.69 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.7961 Swiss francs from 0.7919 Swiss francs, and it dropped to 1.4018 Canadian dollars from 1.4036 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 9.4189 Swedish kronor from 9.4210 Swedish kronor. ■
