TOKYO, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended higher Thursday, with Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ending up 605.07 points, or 1.27 percent, from Wednesday at 48,277.74.
The broader Topix index, meanwhile, finished 19.78 points, or 0.62 percent, higher at 3,203.42.
The benchmark Nikkei recovered the 48,000 line, boosted by heavyweight semiconductor issues and stocks related to artificial intelligence that tracked overnight gains in their U.S. counterparts on the Nasdaq index. ■
