ISLAMABAD, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- As many as 819 dengue cases were recorded in Pakistan's southern Sindh province so far this year, the Sindh Health Department said on Thursday.

A total of 175 new cases were reported so far in October, said the department, adding that the province also reported one fatality from the fever so far in 2025.

The department said that Karachi city remained the most affected this month, with 85 cases reported.

Expressing concern over the rising number of dengue cases, Sindh Health Minister Azra Fazal Pechuho said that comprehensive measures were being taken to curb the spread of the disease.

She said that health department teams were closely monitoring suspected and confirmed cases across all districts, and were working jointly with district administrations to take immediate preventive and remedial actions.

"Safeguarding public health is a priority, and the provincial administration is utilizing all available resources to eliminate dengue and other vector-borne diseases in the province," she said.
