MANILA, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Personal remittances from overseas Filipinos reached 3.31 billion U.S. dollars in August 2025, 3.2 percent higher than 3.20 billion dollars recorded in August 2024, the Philippine central bank said on Wednesday.

From January to August 2025, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas said cumulative personal remittances rose by 3.1 percent to 25.51 billion dollars from 24.74 billion dollars recorded in the same period of 2024.

Personal remittances include cash sent through banks and informal channels, as well as remittances in kind.

The United States remained the top source of remittances to the Philippines during January-August 2025, followed by Singapore and Saudi Arabia.

With an estimated 10 million Filipinos living or working overseas, personal remittances remain vital to the country's foreign exchange source.

According to the Asian Development Bank, the Philippines is among the top 10 global recipients of remittances.
