SYDNEY, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- A person has been found dead following a house fire in Sydney's northwest suburbs on Friday.
Emergency services were called to reports of the fire at a house in Eastwood, 15 kilometers northwest of central Sydney, around 9:30 a.m. local time.
Firefighters arrived to find the home ablaze and thick smoke billowing from a bedroom, News Corp Australia newspapers reported.
One person was reported as unaccounted for, and a body was later found inside the residence following an extensive search.
The deceased person has not yet been identified.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire. ■
