KABUL, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have initiated the asphalting of a vital road connecting two districts in northern Takhar province, aiming to enhance infrastructure and stimulate economic growth, a local official said late Thursday.
The project, with an estimated cost of nearly 132 million afghani (around 2 million U.S. dollars), spans a 17-km roadway, according to Samiullah Hazbullah, spokesman for the provincial government.
The new road will link Dashti Qala and Khwaja Ghar districts, facilitating the transport of local agricultural products to markets and improving connectivity for communities, Hazbullah added. ■
