ALMATY, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed in a fire at a farmhouse in the Pavlodar Region of northern Kazakhstan, the Kazinform news agency reported on Thursday.
The blaze completely engulfed the residential building of the farmhouse -- located 7 km from the village of Solnechny -- causing a partial collapse of the roof and spreading to nearby outbuildings to cover a total area of 920 square meters, according to the regional Department of Emergency Situations.
Seven people were inside the house when the fire broke out, and only one of them managed to escape and was subsequently hospitalized.
Rescuers have removed eight 27-liter gas cylinders from the premises. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. ■
