HANOI, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called for stronger efforts to develop affordable housing segments with price suitable for average income levels, Vietnam News Agency reported Wednesday.
In a recent directive sent to ministries and localities, he ordered decisive measures to boost housing and real estate supply, curb price increases and stabilize the market.
The directive comes as real estate and housing prices in several areas have continued to soar, far exceeding the financial capacity of citizens, partly due to a shortage of affordable commercial housing, according to the report.
The prime minister urged authorities to accelerate the development of social housing, aiming to exceed the government's target of completing 100,000 social housing units by 2025. ■
