KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia will continue to deepen its cooperation with Pakistan in several key sectors, including food security, aviation, healthcare and cybersecurity, the leaders of both countries said.

Cooperation between the two countries has been greatly strengthened through high-level visits, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his Pakistani counterpart Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, who is on a three-day official visit, said in a joint statement on Monday.

"Both Leaders acknowledged the importance of sustainable agricultural practices and agreed to explore joint research, innovation, and the development of sustainable agricultural production methods," said the statement.

"Malaysia expressed its intention to expand palm oil exports to Pakistan, in line with the increasing demand within Pakistan's food processing and manufacturing sectors. Both leaders agreed to ensure a stable and sustainable supply chain, while upholding environmentally responsible practices," it added.

Recognizing the importance of aviation in fostering greater connectivity and promoting people-to-people exchanges, both leaders agreed to enhance air travel services and explore opportunities for increased connectivity between Malaysia and Pakistan.

The two leaders also pledged greater cooperation in facing regional and global challenges, stressing that disputes must be resolved through peaceful means in accordance with international law.
