LOS ANGELES, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Bowers Museum, a premier cultural art museum in U.S. Southern California, hosted a series of events on Sunday to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of China's most important traditional holidays, known for moon gazing and family reunions.

Hundreds of visitors across the region gathered to enjoy traditional Chinese performances, music and a fashion show, art activities, the tasting of mooncakes, and experience Chinese culture.

Zhang Jing, a visitor from Shanghai traveling in the United States with her family, called it a meaningful coincidence to celebrate the festival abroad and said it offered a chance to see how Chinese culture is shared overseas.

A resident of Garden Grove in Orange County who identified herself as Cat said she loves traditional Chinese instruments and music. Cultural events like this, she added, allow people to experience diverse traditions and offer Americans a window into Chinese culture.

Founded in 1936, the Bowers Museum has engaged in cooperation and exchange programs with Chinese museums. Its current exhibition, "World of the Terracotta Warriors: New Archaeological Discoveries in Shaanxi in the 21st Century," showcases newly unearthed artifacts from Shaanxi Province along with immersive digital experiences that bring China's ancient civilization to life.
