Bangladesh's Q1 remittances jump nearly 16 pct

DHAKA, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- The inflow of remittances from millions of Bangladeshis living and working abroad grew by 15.9 percent year-on-year to reach 7.59 billion U.S. dollars in the first quarter (July-September) of the 2025-26 fiscal year, the latest data showed.

The figures from Bangladesh Bank (BB) also revealed a healthy inflow of 2.69 billion dollars in September 2025, compared to 2.41 billion in September 2024.

According to the data, remittance, one of the key sources of foreign exchange for the impoverished nation, increased 8.90 percent year-on-year to 2.42 billion dollars in August.

Bangladeshis remitted home nearly 2.5 billion dollars in July.

Bangladesh remittances hit an all-time high of over 30 billion dollars in the fiscal year 2024-25.

Remittance mainly comes from Middle East countries, such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
