RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Palmeiras recovered from two goals down to climb to the top of Brazil's Serie A on Sunday with a 3-2 away win over Sao Paulo.
The hosts raced to a two-goal lead courtesy of early strikes from Luciano and Gonzalo Tapia before former Barcelona forward Vitor Roque pulled a goal back with a 70th-minute header.
Jose Lopez equalized with a long-range effort and Ramon Sosa completed the turnaround by heading home in the 89th minute following Anibal Moreno's cross.
After the match Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira said the introduction of Allan, Bruno Fuchs and Mauricio at halftime had changed the course of the match.
"I think we won because the players who came off the bench in the second half made an impact," he said.
"Many players only feel important if they start but I keep saying that a high percentage of games are won and lost in the second half."
Palmeiras is now equal on points with second-placed Flamengo but leads the standings by virtue of having played fewer games.
Elsewhere in Brazil's Serie A on Sunday, Cruzeiro was held to a 1-1 home draw by Sport Recife, Ceara eased to a 3-0 home victory over Santos, Bahia prevailed 1-0 at home to Flamengo, Fortaleza won 2-1 at Juventude and Vasco da Gama edged to a 4-3 home victory over Vitoria. ■
