PHNOM PENH, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Etihad Airways has commenced its first direct flight between the United Arab Emirates (UAE)'s Abu Dhabi and Cambodia's Phnom Penh, said a Techo International Airport's news release on Saturday.
The first flight landed at the Techo International Airport on Saturday morning, receiving a water salute and a warm welcome from Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak, civil aviation officials and tour operators.
"With four flights per week in each direction, this service offers greater convenience for both business and leisure travelers, while strengthening Cambodia's connections to the Middle East," the news release said.
Huot Hak is confident that the new route will bring more international passengers and tourists to the Southeast Asian country.
Cambodia's aviation industry has seen significant progress in recent years.
According to the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), a total of 31 domestic and international airlines had operated 37,492 flights, with 4.08 million international passengers, to the kingdom's three international airports during the January-July period of 2025. ■
