KABUL, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Police have arrested two armed robbers and recovered gold and cash worth about 400,000 U.S. dollars in northern Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, said a statement of the provincial police office on Thursday.
The armed robbers attacked a money changer several days ago and robbed around 2.6 kg of gold, 28,325 U.S. dollars, 2.2 million afghani (around 33,000 dollars) and 1,000 euros (around 1,175 dollars), the statement said.
During a search operation, police arrested two robbers and discovered all the valuable goods, and returned them to their owner.
Police also discovered two pistols along with scores of bullets and took both armed robbers into custody for investigation, the statement added. ■
