PHNOM PENH, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Mekong River floods and flash floods in other places had killed 19 people in Cambodia from July to the end of September 2025, a disaster control report showed on Thursday.

The floods battered parts of 20 cities and provinces across the Southeast Asian country, affecting 31,169 families, with 1,475 of them being evacuated to safe areas, said the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM)'s report.

"Nineteen people, including seven women and 12 children, had drowned during the floods," the report said.

The floods had inundated 12,319 houses, 62 schools, 13 pagodas, 28 health centers and five administration buildings, the report said, adding that 7,733 hectares of rice paddy and 1,585 hectares of other crops had also been damaged.

The Mekong River floods and flash floods in other places annually hit Cambodia between July and October. According to the NCDM, the floods killed 17 people last year.
