GAZA -- A Hamas source told Xinhua on Tuesday that the group had received the U.S. Gaza peace proposal through Qatari and Egyptian mediators during a meeting in Doha and is studying it "in sincere intent" before releasing an official response.
During a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in White House Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled a 20-point Gaza peace plan.
The plan includes, if Hamas agrees, an immediate ceasefire and the release of all Israeli detainees within 72 hours. JERUSALEM -- The Israeli government on Tuesday night approved the appointment of David Zini, a former senior army officer, as the head of the Shin Bet domestic security agency for a period of five years, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.

ISTANBUL -- Turkish security forces detained 35 suspects in simultaneous operations across 16 provinces in a crackdown on the military structure of the network behind a failed coup attempt in 2016, authorities said Tuesday.
The Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office said in a statement that the operation targeted 42 suspects linked to the Gulen movement, which the Turkish government holds responsible for the July 15, 2016 coup attempt. (Türkiye-Gulen Movement-Crackdown)

RIYADH -- The Saudi Ministry of Finance on Tuesday released its pre-budget statement for fiscal year 2026, projecting real GDP growth of around 4.6 percent, supported by expected expansion in non-oil sectors.
According to the statement, strong non-oil activity and ongoing supportive initiatives are expected to boost revenues over the medium term. Total revenues are projected to reach approximately 1.15 trillion Saudi riyals (307 billion U.S. dollars) in 2026 and 1.29 trillion riyals by 2028, while total expenditures are forecast to be around 1.31 trillion riyals in 2026, rising to 1.42 trillion riyals in 2028.
