MOGADISHU, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Somalia on Wednesday congratulated China on the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, pledging to work closely with Beijing to further strengthen bilateral relations.
"Somalia cherishes its long-standing friendship with China, anchored in mutual respect and shared aspirations, guided by a spirit of cooperation and understanding, reinforced by solidarity and partnership, and committed to promoting the common good of our two peoples," Abdisalam Abdi Ali, minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation, said in a statement issued in Mogadishu.
China marks its National Day on Oct. 1 each year, commemorating the founding of the People's Republic of China on Oct. 1, 1949.
He said that Somalia looks forward to working closely with China to deepen partnerships, enhance cooperation and advance joint projects.
According to the minister, both Mogadishu and Beijing are committed to promoting peace, development and shared prosperity for the benefit of their peoples. ■
