KABUL, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- More than 11 million students go to school in Afghanistan, a spokesman for the Ministry of Education, Qari Mansoor Ahmad Hamza, has said.
"A total of 11,175,089 students go to school in Afghanistan," the state-run Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) quoted Hamza as saying on Sunday.
According to the official, there are a total of 18,621 schools in the country, with 3,215 of them being private schools and the remaining state-owned and public schools providing education to students free of charge.
The Ministry of Education would spare no effort to provide high-quality education to children of the country, the official added. ■
