ISLAMABAD, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan said that the country has been focusing on strengthening the pharmaceutical industry to secure a prominent place in the global healthcare market.
"The industrial policy and regulatory reforms form the foundation of Pakistan's economic future and through appropriate reforms and following global best practices, the country can consolidate its pharmaceutical sector and promote economic prosperity," the official said during an event on Wednesday.
The pharmaceutical industry plays a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of Pakistan's 250 million people, he said, adding that the pharmaceutical exporters are Pakistan's ambassadors, promoting the country's name across the globe.
Highlighting the key measures that helped increase pharmaceutical exports in recent years, Khan said the government stands firmly with the pharmaceutical industry, and the new policies are aimed at supporting the sector while ensuring the availability of affordable and quality medicines for the people. ■
