MOSCOW, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- More than 15 percent of all retail sales in Russia are conducted online, with online market platforms making up the majority of e-commerce, said Russian Economy Minister Maxim Reshetnikov.
"Today, more than 15 percent of all retail sales in Russia take place online. Marketplaces account for the majority of e-commerce, representing 57 percent of the market," Reshetnikov was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying on Thursday.
Russia's e-commerce sector has grown rapidly in recent years, driven by the expansion of major domestic platforms such as Wildberries and Ozon.
At the end of 2024, expenses on the Russian e-commerce market totaled 8.6 trillion rubles (102.7 billion U.S. dollars), representing a 42 percent increase from the previous year, according to data from the Russian analytical company BusinesStat. ■
