COLOMBO, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to create a "SuperApp" that will allow the public to access all government services through a single digital platform, a minister said on Tuesday.

Minister of Health and Mass Media Nalinda Jayatissa told journalists in Colombo that Sri Lankans currently must access public services through multiple online apps, which wastes time and money. The annual economic cost of doing so is estimated at 500 million rupees (about 1.7 million U.S. dollars), he said.

In line with its digitization drive, the government has decided to create a "SuperApp" that will allow about 14 million citizens aged 18 and older to access all government digital services, Jayatissa said.

The SuperApp project will be completed in two stages from 2025 to 2026 at a cost of 500 million rupees (about 1.7 million dollars), he said. Digitization is a key initiative of the government to minimize corruption and make public services more efficient.
