ISLAMABAD, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- At least 22 people were killed in an airstrike in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, officials and local sources said on Monday.
Three houses were struck in the bombardment in the Khyber district of the province, the sources told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The deceased included 18 people from one family and four others from two separate households, the sources added.
Following the incident, around 40 to 50 protesters blocked a main road, while other groups of demonstrators gathered under different political and religious leaders in the district, witnesses said.
