BUENOS AIRES, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Clever Ferreira and Leandro Diaz scored either side of halftime as Atletico Tucuman eased to a 2-0 home win over River Plate in Argentina's Primera Division on Saturday.
The hosts went ahead when Ferreira headed home following Lautaro Godoy's inch-perfect delivery from a corner.
Diaz doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Sebastian Boselli brought down Nicolas Lamendola.
The result leaves Atletico Tucuman fifth in Group B with 12 points, six behind second-placed River Plate.
In Santa Fe, a second-half strike from Alex Arce earned Independiente Rivadavia a 2-2 away draw against Union.
Mauro Pitton gifted the visitors the lead with an early own goal before Cristian Tarragona equalized from the penalty spot.
The hosts took the lead courtesy of Ivan Villalba's own goal but Arce put his side on level terms by volleying home after Sebastian Villa's floating free-kick.
In other Argentine top-flight fixtures on Saturday, Sarmiento won 1-0 at Barracas Central while Tigre's home clash with Aldosivi was suspended in the 73rd minute due to torrential rain with the hosts leading 2-0. ■
