PHNOM PENH, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's total import of diesel fuel, gasoline, and combustion gas amounted to 1.63 billion U.S. dollars in the first eight months of 2025, a Ministry of Commerce's report showed on Friday.
The value was down 13.3 percent from 1.88 billion dollars over the same period last year, the report said.
The kingdom spent 877 million dollars for importing diesel fuel, down 12.8 percent; 529 million dollars for gasoline, down 19 percent; and 225 million dollars on combustion gas, up 1.7 percent, the report added.
Currently, the Southeast Asian country entirely depends on the imports of oil and gas as its seabed's oil reserves have not been exploited yet.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy has forecast that the demand for oil and gas products in Cambodia will surge to 4.8 million tons in 2030, up from 2.8 million tons in 2020. ■
