SYDNEY, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Evil Unbound, a film spotlighting the crimes of notorious Japanese germ warfare Unit 731 during WWII, was screened in multiple Australian cities on Thursday.

The premiere events were held in Sydney and Melbourne, drawing over 400 attendees, including Australian community leaders, overseas Chinese residents, and international students.

Chinese Consul General in Melbourne, Fang Xinwen, said at the event that as the younger generation, we must pay tribute to our predecessors, remember history, and become more self-reliant and resilient. We should learn from history, work harder to resolutely safeguard the post-war international order, join hands to tackle global challenges, and create a better future for humanity.

Robert Barwick, national chairman of the Australian Citizens Party, called the movie shocking and sobering. "When you see something like that, you have to remember the victims," he said.

Whitehorse City Councillor Peter Allan said the film deserves wide viewership. "I think that sort of film should be shown as much as possible to the Australian public or anywhere really to make sure people know what had happened and make sure it never ever happens again," he said.

James Huey, an audience from Sydney, said he was deeply affected by the film. "There were some very graphic scenes of the horrors of the unit," he said. "I think it reminded everybody, this sort of thing should not happen, and we should not ever see it perpetrated again."
