KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia recorded 73.8 million domestic visitors in the second quarter of 2025, an increase of 7.8 percent as compared to the same period last year, official data showed Thursday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that on a quarter-on-quarter basis, domestic visitor numbers rose by 5.8 percent from the first quarter of 2025.
Correspondingly, domestic tourism expenditure amounted to 29.2 billion ringgit (6.96 billion U.S. dollars) in the second quarter of 2025, reflecting a modest year-on-year growth of 3.8 percent.
However, the expenditure registered a slight quarter-on-quarter decline of 0.6 percent. ■
