COLOMBO, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's Cabinet of Ministers has approved the selection of a consultancy firm to carry out a feasibility study aimed at easing traffic congestion in downtown Colombo, a senior official said Tuesday.
Nalinda Jayatissa, minister of health and mass media, told reporters that the study will focus on the Lotus Road intersection, a key gateway to Colombo Port and the new Port City, as well as ramps of the Port Access Road and the extension of the coastal road.
The study will prepare a sustainable plan to improve connectivity with Colombo's main transport corridors and ease congestion at this central access point to the port and Port City, Jayatissa said. ■
