NEW DELHI, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- A senior official working in India's finance ministry was killed and his wife was seriously injured when a speeding car crashed into them in Delhi's Dhaula Kuan area early on Monday morning, according to local police.
The deceased was identified as Navjot Singh, deputy secretary in the federal finance ministry. He was riding a motorbike with his wife sitting behind him.
A BMW car, driven by a woman at a very high speed, allegedly crashed into Singh's motorbike, thus killing him instantly. Singh's wife, a school teacher, was admitted to a hospital where her condition was said to be critical.
The couple was returning home after offering prayers at a Gurudwara temple for the Sikh community in central Delhi when the accident occurred, said the police. ■
