TOKYO, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Defending champion Camryn Rogers of Canada won the women's hammer throw gold medal at the World Athletics Championships here on Monday, claiming her third straight major title with a world-leading mark of 80.51 meters.
Rogers, 26, who also took gold at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and the 2023 World Championships, secured victory with her best throw of the season.
"This is the most incredible thing in the world," said Rogers. "To win a world championship once is very hard, and to defend it is even harder. Now we have got the job done, and I made my country and my family proud."
China's Zhao Jie produced a personal best of 77.60 in her final attempt to finish runner-up, while her compatriot Zhang Jiale earned bronze with 77.10. ■
