KABUL, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have officially commenced exploration and extraction operations at Tooti Maidan gas fields in the northern Jawzjan province on Sunday.
The gas fields were being developed in partnership with an Uzbek company under a previously signed contract for exploration and extraction.
The project has aligned with Afghanistan's strategic vision to harness its natural resources to enhance energy security and economic growth in the resource-rich northern region. ■
