SEOUL -- Ten soldiers were injured Wednesday in an explosion accident at an army artillery unit in northwestern South Korea, according to Yonhap news agency.
A mock shell, used to create the effects of sound and smoke when a real shell is exploded, detonated for unidentified reasons during artillery drills without live ammunition at the unit in the northwestern city of Paju at about 3:24 p.m. local time (0624 GMT). (South Korea-Explosion)

KABUL -- The Afghan government has described the recent Israeli air strikes on Qatar's capital Doha as a "barbaric act" and strongly condemned it, reported the state-run Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) on Tuesday night.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia and Thailand on Wednesday expressed their firm commitment to resolving border disputes peacefully and preventing clashes, said a press statement released by the Cambodian defense ministry.
The commitment was made during the first Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting, which was held in Cambodia's Koh Kong province and co-chaired by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Tea Seiha and Thailand's acting Defense Minister Nattaphon Narkphanit.
