ISTANBUL, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Assets of 121 companies under Istanbul-based Can Holding, including Türkiye's major TV channels Haberturk, Show TV, and Bloomberg HT, were seized Thursday as part of an investigation into the group, the prosecutor's office in Istanbul announced.
The Kucukcekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office said Can Holding executives face charges of forming a criminal organization, tax evasion, fraud, and money laundering. Detention orders were issued for 10 suspects, it added.
Prosecutors alleged that large sums of money of unknown origin were funneled into the holding's companies, moved between firms to hide their trail, and used in off-the-books transactions and falsified documents to reduce tax obligations.
The office noted that Can Holding created multiple companies in the same sectors to make oversight and tracking of funds more difficult.
Can Holding also owns Istanbul Bilgi University and private school franchise Doga Koleji. ■
