KABUL -- Nine commuters have been confirmed dead and seven others sustained injuries as a mini-bus plunged into a ravine in the northern Afghanistan's Baghlan province on Wednesday, provincial police spokesman Mawlawi Shir Ahmad Burhani said.
The mishap took place on a congested road in Khost-o-Faring area on Wednesday morning, leaving nine dead on the spot and seven injured, some in critical condition, the officer said. (Afghanistan-Road Accident)

CAPE TOWN -- Six people were killed in shootings across Cape Town, the legislative capital of South Africa, on Tuesday, adding to a spate of gun violence in Western Cape Province that has pushed police to step up their response.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed that six people, including four women, were shot dead in separate shooting incidents in Kraaifontein, a town in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. NEW DELHI -- One worker was killed and over a dozen others were hospitalized on Wednesday following a toxic gas leak at a chemical factory in the western Indian state of Gujarat, officials said.
