PARIS, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Francois Bayrou, local media reported.
Bayrou submitted his resignation earlier in the day after his government was ousted in a confidence vote in parliament on Monday, according to France 24.
The National Assembly announced that only 194 lawmakers backed Bayrou out of 558 valid votes.
Following the vote, the Elysee said in a press release that Macron will nominate a new prime minister in the coming days. ■
