TEHRAN, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani condemned Israel's attack on Hamas leaders in Doha during a phone call on Tuesday night.
The phone conversation was held a few hours after Israel launched the unprecedented airstrike on a building where senior Hamas officials were discussing a U.S.-proposed ceasefire plan.
Pezeshkian said Iran stands with Qatar and would take any necessary action to support its "neighbor and close friend."
He said Israel respects no recognized international framework or global legal norms, and its modus operandi was backed by the United States.
Under the pretext of defending its security, Israel has disrupted the region's security, stability and peace and does not hesitate to perpetrate any crime, the president said.
Pezeshkian called on Muslim countries to adopt a "united" position and seriously condemn Israel's "blatant aggression and crime" both verbally and in action to prevent a repeat.
The Qatari emir, for his part, agreed with the Iranian president, noting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu knows no boundaries for his "crimes" and would attack and bomb wherever he wanted and however he wanted, without facing any obstacles.
The emir said Hamas officials had informed Qatar that they would respond positively to the ceasefire plan, but their meeting came under the Israeli attack.
The emir expressed hope that his country's contacts with Iran and other Muslim countries would continue in the coming days so that effective actions would be taken to stop Israel's "crimes." ■
