TEHRAN, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei on Tuesday strongly condemned Israel's airstrikes on the Qatari capital Doha, which targeted Hamas officials.
He made the remarks in an interview with state-run IRIB TV a few while after Israel's military said the explosions heard in Doha were the result of its airstrikes targeting Hamas headquarters, in what it described as an attempt to assassinate senior Hamas leaders.
Baghaei described Israel's action as "extremely dangerous, criminal," in "flagrant violation of all international laws and regulations, Qatar's national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and an attack on Palestinian negotiators."
He added, "We are closely examining the events that have occurred. However, in any case, from the perspective of international law, all international law regulations have been violated."
Baghaei emphasized that the issue should make the countries of the West Asia region and the entire international community more vigilant than ever, and serve as a warning about the dangers of the international community's continued inaction and indifference to Israel's "aggressions and law-breakings" in the occupied Palestinian territories as well as and the West Asia region. ■
