TASHKENT, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Monday, emphasizing the importance of expanding partnership with FIFA, the president's press service announced.
"Issues of expanding practical partnership with this authoritative international structure [FIFA], primarily in transforming football management, developing young talent, training coaches, referees, managers, medical staff and technical specialists to international standards, were discussed," the press service said in a statement.
As noted, the continuing close cooperation on the implementation of joint programs for popularizing football among youth was noted with big satisfaction.
"An agreement was reached on the opening of a regional FIFA office for Central Asian countries in the city of Tashkent," the press service added. ■
